Transportation and logistics
ITC supports governments and private sectors to improve the efficiency of their transport and logistics sectors through such activities as regulatory impact assessment and capacity building programmes.
Transport and logistics companies are key services suppliers in today’s integrated global trade networks and the rising demand in global e-commerce, and effective domestic regulations in the transport and logistics sector are essential for countries to ensure trade flows and support economic activities.
Yet, trade costs associated with transport and logistics on average accounts for nearly 15 % of the value added in most manufacturing industries. An efficient transport and logistics sector can help micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) increase their competitiveness in international markets through lower trade costs.
ITC’s trade facilitation projects help remove barriers in international transport and logistics, connect stakeholders to exchange best practices at national, regional and international levels, and foster cooperation among government agencies and businesses.
